INFORMATION ON GREEN COFFEE BEAN EXTRACT

Green coffee extract is an extract of raw, unroasted green coffee beans, loaded with antioxidants. It contains pharmacologically active compounds, including caffeine and chlorogenic acid. Chlorogenic acid is believed to be the main ingredient and by roasting coffee beans, most of the chlorogenic acid will be removed.

Evidence has demonstrated Chlorogenic acid (CGA) to have antibacterial, antioxidant and anticarcinogenic properties. Benefits such as reduction of cardiovascular risk, diabetes type 2 and Alzheimer's disease, have been associated with the consumption of CGA, and recently its role in glucose and lipid metabolism, have been highlighted.

CGA has been described as a potential antidiabetic agent as it inhibits the release of the G6P enzyme, which significantly stabilizes blood sugar levels. Stable blood sugar allows for increased energy, mental clarity, hormone function and detoxification. It can also support weight loss through slowing absorption, preventing carbohydrate uptake and speeding up fat metabolism.

Caffeine is antioxidant, linked to a reduction in the risk of metabolic syndrome. Due to its thermogenic effect, it helps to stimulate metabolism and raise the body’s core temperature, thereby burning more calories.

Some studies suggest that Green coffee bean extract could benefit heart health by improving vascular function, and lowering blood pressure and cholesterol levels. It also promotes detoxification by stimulating glutathione activity, an enzyme that serves as a catalyst in helping carcinogens to bond.

Green coffee bean extract is being studied for its effect on BDNF (brain-derived neurotropic factor), which has been found to play an essential role when it comes to learning, memory and behavior.

How it works:

CGA, as main ingredient in Green coffee beans, binds with low-density lipoproteins acting as a heart-protective antioxidant.

By disrupting the enzyme glucose-6-phosphatase, it minimises absorption of glucose, assisting with healthier blood glucose and insulin levels.

Green coffee bean extract is also known to decrease excess sugar in the blood and supports the use of stored fat for energy.
