INFORMATION ON L-VALINE

ONLY AVAILABLE IN DRINKS

L-Valine is one of the three Branched Chain Amino Acids along with L-Leucine and L-Isoleucine.

As with the other two BCAAs it is an essential amino acid, the body cannot synthesise it and therefore L–Valine has to be ingested.

L-valine is required for metabolism, providing the body with enery, to promote normal growth, repair tissues, restoration as well as regulate blood sugar. Valine protects the muscle against breakdown by supplying the muscles with extra glucose for energy production during intense physical activity.

It helps to remove potentially toxic excess nitrogen from the liver, and aids with the regulation and transport of nitrogen to other tissues in the body.

Studies have shown that L-valine is likely to be of the most benefit to athletes because of its muscle building abilities, its muscle tissue recovery effect and its regulation of glucose to the muscle. It also proves to support the immune system.

L-valine helps to stimulate the central nervous system, and is needed for normal mental functioning. It is thought that it also improves insomnia and nervousness and is an appetite suppresant.

It is being researched for diseases related to liver and gallbladder.

How it works:

L-Valine inhibits the transportation of Tryptophan across the blood-brain barrier and therefore is essential for smooth cognitive functioning.

L-Valine is important in the biosynthesis of protein, and the proper conversion of food into energy and has a stimulant activity.

It prevents the breakdown of muscle by supplying extra glucose and is a precursor in the penicillin biosynthetic pathway.
