INFORMATION ON VITAMIN B2 (RIBOFLAVIN)

Vitamin B2, also called Riboflavin, is one of 8 B vitamins.

All B vitamins are water-soluble meaning the body needs a daily dosage, since in can not be stored in the body.

They play a key function in the body's energy supply, by helping to break down proteins and fats, and converting carbohydrates into ATP (adenosine triphosphate). ATP produces energy as the body requires it and is vital for storing energy in muscles.

These B vitamins, often referred to as B complex vitamins, are necessary for healthy skin, hair, eyes, and liver and help the nervous system function properly.

In addition to producing energy for the body, Riboflavin also acts as an antioxidant by fighting damaging particles in the body. It helps in the regeneration of glutathione, an enzyme that rids the body of free radicals.

Riboflavin is essential to red blood cell production and oxygen transport throughout the body, which increases circulation to a variety of organ systems in the body. It is believed to help promote iron metabolism and helps in the processing of amino acids, fats as well as boost mineral absorption in the body.

Riboflavin regulates growth and reproduction, helps repair tissues, protects the digestive system, increases natural immunity by strengthening antibody reserves, and helps to prevent many common disease conditions.

Evidence have shown that Riboflavin can decrease the progression of the AIDS virus.

How it works:

After digestion, Vitamin B2 or Riboflavin, is delivered to the cells where it helps improve cellular function and converts sugars to energy.

It supports metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins and is crucial to energy production, key metabolic processes and normal cell function and growth.

Riboflavin is also integral to the body’s antioxidant defense systems. It activates the liver’s Phase II enzymes, which neutralize and flush toxins from the body.
