INFORMATION ON VITAMIN B3 (NICOTINAMIDE)

Vitamin B3 or Niacin, is a water-soluble nutrient that is part of the B vitamin family, consisting of 8 B vitamins.

They are important for various metabolic processes which help the body use sugars, proteins and fatty acids to produce energy.

Vitamin B3 are available in two common forms, niacin (nicotinic acid) and niacinamide (nicotinamide). Nicotinamide is a derivative of niacin, and is used by the body to create the coenzymes nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD). NAD plays a significant role in the breakdown of protein, carbohydrate, fat, and alcohol, and NADP is part of anabolic reactions such as cholesterol synthesis.

Niacin benefits heart health by improving circulation, helping to lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and increase the amount of good cholesterol (HDL) in the blood. Research indicates it can help to decrease the risk of stroke, heart attack and heart disease.

Niacin is required for proper functioning of the digestive system, as it helps with production of hydrochloric acid, necessary for good digestive function. It also acts to protect pancreatic health, support a healthy nervous system and help reduce the risk of cataracts, osteoarthritis and Alzheimer's disease.

In addition it helps to regulate gene expression, eliminate harmful toxins and facilitates the production of different hormones.

Numerous studies show great promise for Niacin in terms of insulin and blood glucose control, in early onset diabetes.

How it works:

Vitamin B3 works in several different ways. It presents the chemical platform for NAD ( nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide), which is central in converting dietary proteins, fats and carbohydrates into usable energy.

It has a positive effect on blood fats associated with coronary artery disease , reduce cholesterol levels and affect the circulation of blood.

Niacin may prevent the oxidation of adrenochrome, a neurotoxic brain chemical that can cause hallucinations.

Niacinamide has prominent anti-inflammatory contents.
